Rumours have been flying around, people are giving out badly worded information for various reasons, so we thought we%27d clarify things for you in plain and simple english. %3Cbr%3E %3Cbr%3E For Players%3A%3Cbr%3E %3Cimg src=%22images/zerooneweb/store_graphics/basket_bullet.gif%22%3E You must now be a registered player at a site that holds insurance in order to purchase guns in the future, either by mail order or in person.%3Cbr%3E %3Cimg src=%22images/zerooneweb/store_graphics/basket_bullet.gif%22%3E We need to ensure you are a registered player before we can sell to you - which means you either need to get yourself on the UKARA database for remote checks, or carry an identity card issued to you by your site for face-to-face sales.%3Cbr%3E %3Cimg src=%22images/zerooneweb/store_graphics/basket_bullet.gif%22%3E Sales of some high powered airsoft guns are now classified as air guns. Mail Order sales of air guns are now banned - which means you need to visit us and collect your gun in person. %3Cbr%3E %3Cimg src=%22images/zerooneweb/store_graphics/basket_bullet.gif%22%3E The UKARA database can only be used for one purpose - to check a customer is a legitimate player. The database holds only 3 pieces of information, all of which is hidden unless one of the three is entered as part of a check. Realistic Immitation Firearms.%3Cbr%3E Called RIFs for short, these include any gun or weapon-like object that could be pointed at a member of the public or a police officer and believed to be real - such as a pistol, rifle, grenade, mine or rocket launcher. The basic law says that these are banned, and therefore can not be sold, imported or manufactured. There are two ways around this provided for by law, being, a) it is transparent or of a highly bright orange or pink colour, or b) it is only sold to a legitimate airsoft player. %3Cbr%3E %3Cbr%3E Part 2. Air Guns%3Cbr%3E In addition to the regulations above, if the airsoft gun has a high muzzle velocity, it becomes classified as an air gun as well. That means that, as well as complying with our "legitimate skirmisher" checks above, we need to abide by new air guns laws. Any dealer, such as ourselves, wishing to continue selling air guns, needs to be a registered firearms dealer - we are. The regulations also restrict the sale of these higher powered guns to in-person sales only, i.e. no more mail order. You will need to visit us, with your identity, in order for us to sell these guns to you.%3Cbr%3E %3Cbr%3E %3Cstrong%3EWhy You Should Be Listening to Us%3A%3C/strong%3E%3Cbr%3E We were one of the founding retailers who came together to form UKARA, the United Kingdom Airsoft Retailers Association. This is the only association, or "body", you need to have any contact with in order to continue to purchase airsoft (or to participate in the membership scheme). UKARA was set up and shall remain for one reason only - to ensure that we as UK retailers can continue to sell to you, therefore continuing the sport as we know it.%3Cbr%3E One of our directors, in conjunction with a third party design firm, created the UKARA national database which is used to check the legitimacy for any mail order gun sale in the UK - a key part of this design and the main reason we wanted to be in charge of this part of the project was to ensure privacy was retained, and things were as simple as they needed to be - it is very important to stress that registration is harmless - the only verification data UKARA needs to hold is your membership number, name and postal code - that%27s all we need, and all we store. A key part of this design is PRIVACY. The database system is NOT in any way able to govern or control you, your purchases, obtain data about you, gain statistics or mailshot you - the information to do that simply isnt there - and that (your privacy) was a key specification for us!%3Cbr%3E We are members of the Gun Trade Association, and receive the latest news regarding any additional government legislation - such as the new regulations that apply to air guns. Find your closest site and go there to get registered - as a player, there is absolutely no point in becoming a member of a "go it alone" site, even if they say they run their own scheme. In the bigger picture, your purchase may not be accepted by any number of retailers, and as we%27ve said, you want to retain the choice yourself. A UKARA registered site shows professionalism, and you know that you will get a professional membership - one that will see you right wherever you choose to shop. They may choose to offer walk-on discounts to members of the site, you may be charged an annual fee, you may or may not get given an ID card for face to face purchases - this is down to each individual site, and you should ask them for more details.%3Cbr%3E The only %27regulation%27 here is that your site must hold insurance - not all do, so it is best to check as it is pointless becoming a member of a site that doesn%27t. We can verify you as an airsoft player remotely, and things are back to normal.%3Cbr%3E %3Cbr%3E We must stress that your details do not enter a black hole accessible only to nasty people, police, government, or even us friendly people at Zero One - most of the information collected is just in case we need to contact you because we can%27t read your writing - only a select amount of that information is input - and once it is input, only "Mr. Gigabyte" (the computer) will ever see it again - all that is stored is your name, postal code and membership number - and one of the three bits needs to be input before the any of the other is displayed - the only benefit being for searching your name or post code before sending out your new gun.%3Cbr%3E %3Cbr%3E From the point you send in your form to us, and we enter you, buying should be much like it was a year ago, with one small addition - you quote your membership number when ordering, and that%27s it. %3Cbr%3E Seems like an awful headache doesn%27t it, but when we say it like this, it%27s quite straight-forward. If your neighbouring site isn%27t participating and you are - where do you think their members are going to go? To you of course. This also applies to sales at game sites, from your site shop for example. %3Cbr%3E The easiest way for your players to do this, and indeed remember their membership number, is by giving them a photo ID card from your site. There are internet solutions out there to do this, some encouraged by other airsoft groups, but those methods create work for you - and costs - not to mention who is retaining that data!%3Cbr%3E %3Cbr%3E We%27d like to offer to give you ID cards for your site, totally free of charge.
