Has anyone out there got a favourite grab and go gun, something that's simple, uncomplicated in its form and function, yet robust, reliable and hard working? Is it easy to transport, works flawlessly and doesn't require a score of accessories to show that you mean business. We have a firm favourite here, the G&G UMG submachine gun.
It is very solid indeed, there are no creaks or groans from the polymer body. The metal parts include the rails, front and rear sights and the bolt lock. The gun is very comfortable to shoulder and very easy to manoeuvre. If you need to reduce its size further the stock can be folded to one side making CQB and transportation an absolute breeze. The body itself has a very purposeful deep grey, almost black finish. It even has mould lines similar to the real steel version.
The gearbox is version 3 and is incredibly reliable. The gears and spring guide are reinforced and extremely durable, and the hop unit body is metal and connects to a 225mm inner barrel with a rubber seal on the nozzle for improved air seal. The huge magazine locks in easily and holds a whopping 530 rounds, although mid-caps are also available.
The battery compartment is accessed by folding the stock to one side and opening a small hatch. The battery housing will accommodate an 8.4v stick battery with a mini tamiya connector. Don't think that this is purely a CQB gun. It's short which makes target acquisition nice and easy and can be used in the tightest of spaces thanks to the folding stock, but the range and performance will embarrass a host of other guns. The G&G UMG is small, reliable, packs a punch and is excellent value to boot.
