Based on Swiss Arms rifles, the SG series of AEG's offers an excellent platform for a variety of battlefield roles, as was the intention of the Swiss Army in the early 80's. All of the guns in the series are exceedingly sturdy and don't creak or groan with use. Metal parts on the AEG's include the muzzle flash hider, receiver, forward and rear sights and outer barrel which are finished in a deep matte charcoal colour. All the of SG's have the same front sights but a different type of flash hider for the long barrel models or the CQB themed 552. The handguard and stock are manufactured from heavy duty plastic and is a dark olive colour which complements the metal parts very well, with the fore grip providing a storage compartment for the battery.
The receiver feels like it's been hewn from granite. It really is solid and gives the rifle an assured sense of manufacturing quality. Each rifle has a G&G serial number as well as nicely machined shot selection symbols in red or white. The charging handle can be pulled back to reveal a rotary style hop adjust which is great for fine tuning your shot trajectory. The rear sight is adjustable with a choice of four options for range and a dial for elevation. The pistol grip is comfortable and sturdy and the trigger guard is wide enough to allow operation whilst wearing gloves. Magazine changes are easy and the magwell allows them to slot into place comfortably. The magazine that is supplied with the SG is a 30 round low cap with an extended feeder, it's also transparent with dummy shells which look very impressive and add extra realism to the rifle.
The skeleton stock is manufactured from polymer and is both lightweight and comfortable and can also be folded to one side and locked against the receiver. The gun is surprisingly comfortable to shoulder and aim. Although the guns, especially the SG550, look quite long, their slender design belies this feeling. G&G's superb version 3 gearbox powers the SG series and the performance will shame many costlier AEG's.
The SG series by G&G has everything an operator needs to dominate the battlefield and features great looks, performance and build quality. What more do you need?
