The guys at Zero One Airsoft enjoy being caught off guard by RIF's that are a little unusual or not entirely traditional, and this certainly caught us off guard in a most enjoyable way. Enter the stunning RK104 EVO ETU by G&G Armament.
Plenty of PMC styled Kalashnikov variants have been released over the last few years but none of them have captured our imagination like this one. From just looking at the AEG you know you're in for a treat. It feels solid and looks imposing, a veritable beast of a gun.
The tan body parts are manufactured from metal which gives the RIF an amazing feel of solidity, and the finish contrasts brilliantly with the black furniture. The polymer parts include handguard, pistol grip and stock, all of which also feel strong and durable. The pistol grip is very comfortable indeed and adds a westernised feel to the weapon.
The crane stock will upset traditionalists, but it's infinitely more comfortable than the standard Kalashnikov stock and can be adjusted to six different positions. Sling points can be found at the back of the receiver and on the handguard. Rails occupy the top, bottom and sides of the handguard and a Kalashnikov scope mount can be attached to the receiver.
Although the external quality of this gun is easy to see, it's the internals that really set this gun apart. The gearbox is version three and it is manufactured to G&G's usual high standard. The metal gearbox houses reinforced gears and 8mm ball bearings for increased longevity. However, the real star of this show is the combination of a mosfet and G&G's Electronic Trigger Unit, or ETU. This system gives the RK104 a very respectable rate of fire and a crisp & precise trigger response, especially when high speed single shots are required. The gun can also be programmed to fire in 3rds burst mode instead of full auto, just change the selector to single shot and hold the trigger for 10 seconds.
With looks that blend traditional & contemporary styling effortlessly, and performance to die for, the G&G RK104 ETU is a near perfect skirmishing weapon.
